Why do people have negative views on carbon offsets?

The term "carbon offset" is gradually giving way to "carbon contribution". It's a question of not letting companies pollute under the pretext of funding carbon sequestration projects. Carbon contributions must be made after the necessary emission reductions have been completed. In fact, this is an intervention on "residual" emissions - which cannot be avoided.

The most complete and intuitive platform on the market

Carbon Enterprise Connect gives us access to a market where we can make a carbon contribution to emissions we cannot reduce, and thus move onto a net-zero trajectory. All projects are certified, which means they are audited, measurable, every penny actually contributes to avoided emissions, and are labeled by an independent entity.

Broadly speaking, the two terms are similar. Whether one is "contributing" to the goal of carbon neutrality or "offsetting" one's carbon footprint, the idea is to fund carbon reduction or sequestration projects.

So far, the term "carbon contribution" has not been widely used, but it is now taking precedence over the term "carbon offset". In fact, it would be misleading to instill in individuals and professionals that we can fix our emissions by simply “offsetting” our actual emissions with hypothetical future absorption. Now, we need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions before we can offset residual emissions -- that is, we really can't avoid emissions.
